The Shame of it all...

Has anyone, for any reason, at any time in your life said to you those words: "SHAME ON YOU"?

If you felt shame and regret when those words were said, then you received the shame - you accepted it and claimed it. You may have even believed it.

That shame slunk into your soul and your other emotions bullied it like a "red-headed step-child." Your joy tried to ignore it; your anger tormented it and your sadness pitied it. The shame therefore, tried to hide in a corner of your life and disappear. But in doing so, that shame fed on the scraps of your life, zapping your heart of useful nutrients and derailed your ability to be your true YOU.

Shame takes up the space where your confidence should live, crowding it out.

• Shame keeps you from believing God loves you

• Shame keeps you from fully accepting God's forgiveness

• Shame causes you to treat yourself shamefully

• Shame blocks your ability to receive God's blessings

• Shame keeps you from believing God's promises are for you

• Shame keeps you from being healed, from prospering and succeeding

• Shame keeps the enemy active in your life beyond increasing the shame

Shame may start with that "thing" you did "wrong" or that wrong thing that was done to you, and instead of staying at a place of guilt or remorse, it is the shame that turns it inward. Guilt and remorse reject that "thing" or that situation, but shame rejects self as if YOU are that bad thing that causes every bad situation.

And this is why 1) shame is so insidious in every aspect of your life and 2) why shame is so difficult to purge from your soul: your thoughts, will and emotions.

When you free your soul from shame it is like "hydroplaning" the crud that cakes up inside your pipes or breaking down plaque build-up in your heart.

A life free of shame is a life that is free to prosper, succeed and MORE!
